Crochet No-Sew Body Kitty Pattern with Bow

Need a tiny crochet kitty with built-in paws and a cheerful bow? This palm-sized plush combines bobble details, a yellow shirt, and rosy cheeks in one seamless body.

That little blue-and-yellow outfit gives this amigurumi crochet kitty more personality than its small size suggests, while the white bobbles create the limb details directly as you crochet. The result is a compact plush with a sweet character face, tiny ears, and a bright red bow that makes it easy to recognize at a glance.

Working from the bottom upward keeps the body and head together, so there are no separate legs or head pieces waiting to be joined later. The finished crochet kitty is around 3–4 inches tall with the recommended yarn and hook, and you can change the body or bow colors for seasonal versions. The tutorial also points out where the bobbles, color changes, safety eyes, stuffing, and facial details need particular attention.

What Makes This Kitty Different?

The main shaping happens in one continuous body-and-head piece. Instead of crocheting separate limbs and sewing them onto the body, the white bobble stitches are worked directly into selected rounds to create the paw details.

There are also several deliberate color transitions:

  • Blue forms the lower body.
  • White bobbles create the first set of limb details.
  • Yellow forms the shirt section.
  • White begins the head.
  • A second set of white bobbles appears on the yellow section.
  • The red bow, white ears, yellow nose, and black whiskers are added afterward.

Because the bobbles are part of the round itself, stitch placement matters more here than it would in a basic single-color amigurumi. Keep an eye on the stitch count at the end of every round, especially the rounds containing bobbles.

Size, Yarn & Color Options

With size 2 fine chenille yarn and a 2.25 mm hook, the finished kitty should be approximately 3–4 inches tall, although your exact size will vary with tension.

The supplied color combination creates a blue-and-yellow character with a red bow. For a Halloween version, you can replace the main colors with orange and black. For a Christmas-inspired variation, try classic red and green while keeping the white details.

The pattern uses 6 mm safety eyes, toy stuffing, and a small amount of black embroidery thread for the whiskers. Blusher is optional but gives the finished face a softer, rosy expression.

Crochet the One-Piece Head and Body

Start with Blue yarn and work from the bottom upward. The first six rounds create the lower body, then Yellow forms the shirt area before White takes over for the head.

Round 1: 6 sc into a MR (6)

Round 2: inc x6 (12)

Round 3: (sc, inc) x6 (18

First Bobble Details

Round 4: [Change to White for the bobble, then switch back to Blue] bobble-5dc, sc, inc, (sc 2, inc) x5 (24)

The bobble is worked as part of the round rather than attached afterward. Keep the color changes controlled so the white bobble remains visible while the surrounding stitches continue in Blue.

Round 5: [Using Blue for the sc stitches and White for the bobbles] sc 9, bobble-5dc, sc 6, bobble-5dc, sc 7 (24)

These two white bobbles complete the first set of limb details. Before moving on, check that both bobbles are positioned on the same intended side of the body.

Round 6: sc around in Blue (24)

At this point, the lower body section is established. The next color change moves into the yellow clothing area.

Create the Yellow Shirt

Change to Yellow yarn.

Round 7: BLO, sc around (24)

The BLO round creates a visible transition line between the lower blue section and the yellow section. Work carefully through only the back loops so the round remains even.

Round 8: (sc 2, dec) x6 (18)

Round 9: [Using Yellow for the sc stitches and White for the bobbles] sc 6, bobble-5dc, sc 6, bobble-5dc, sc 4 (18)

The two bobbles in this round form the second set of limb details. Keep checking their position against the first bobbles so the body remains balanced.

Stuff the body firmly.

Do not wait until the head is closed to add the body stuffing. This section is already narrowing, so filling it now lets you push the fiberfill into the lower shape while the opening is still easy to reach.

Round 10: (sc, dec) x6 (12)

Save

Begin the Head

Change to White yarn.

Round 11: FLO, inc x12 (24)

Working into the front loops creates the transition from the yellow shirt into the white head.

Round 12: (sc, inc) x12 (36)

The increase round expands the head to its full width.

Rounds 13–19: sc around (36)

These seven rounds provide the height of the head. Keep the stitches even so the head remains rounded rather than becoming noticeably wider on one side.

Save

Add the Eyes Before Closing the Head

Place the 6 mm safety eyes between Rounds 16 and 17, with 6 stitches between them.

This is the best point to check the face from the front. Make sure the eyes sit at the same height and that the spacing looks centered before continuing with the decreases.

Round 20: (sc 4, dec) x6 (30)

Round 21: (sc 3, dec) x6 (24)

Round 22: (sc 2, dec) x6 (18)

Round 23: (sc, dec) x6 (12)

Stuff the head firmly.

The head should now feel rounded and full rather than hollow, but the stitches should not be stretched so tightly that the decreases become distorted.

Round 24: dec x6 (6)

Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail. Weave the tail through the remaining 6 front loops, pull tightly to close the opening, and weave in the end.

At this point, the main character shape is complete: the body, shirt, head, and integrated bobble details are already one piece.

Make the Small Separate Details

The remaining pieces are intentionally simple. None of them need stuffing.

Ears - Make 2

Use White yarn.

Round 1: 6 sc into a MR (6)

Round 2: (sc 2, inc) x2 (8)

Round 3: (sc 3, inc) x2 (10)

Slip stitch into the next stitch, fasten off, and leave a long tail for sewing. Do not stuff the ears.

Keeping the ears flat will make them easier to position against the rounded head.

Save

Red Bow

Use Red yarn.

Step 1: In a MR, make (ch 3, 1 dc, ch 3, sl st) x2.

This creates the two sides of the bow from the same center.

Step 2: Fasten off, leaving a long tail, and pull the magic ring tightly closed.

Step 3: Wrap the long tail around the center several times to form the middle knot, then secure the tail at the back.

The bow should now have two small loops with a defined center. Keep the middle wrap snug enough to hold the shape without flattening the loops.

Give the Kitty Its Face and Outfit Details

With the crocheted pieces complete, the remaining work is mostly about placement. Because the head is already rounded, position each detail while looking directly at the front rather than relying only on measurements.

Ears

Sew the two white ears to the top sides of the head, positioning them between Rounds 19 and 23.

Check that they sit at approximately the same height before sewing them down completely.

Nose

Using a small amount of Yellow yarn, embroider the nose horizontally between the eyes, centered between Rounds 15 and 16.

Keep this detail small; the eyes and nose are close together, so a large nose can quickly change the expression.

Bow

Sew the red bow securely onto the front of the head, positioned just in front of the right ear.

Before securing it permanently, look at the kitty from the front to make sure the bow does not pull the ear downward.

Save

Whiskers

Using black embroidery thread, stitch three diagonal whiskers on each cheek, extending slightly outward from the eyes.

Keep the whiskers on both sides similar in angle and spacing for a balanced face.

Overall Straps

Using a strand of Blue chenille yarn, embroider the overall straps. Bring the yarn from the top edge of the yellow shirt, over the shoulders, and secure it at the back.

These straps add the final clothing detail without requiring another crocheted piece.

Rosy Cheeks

For the finishing facial detail, apply a small amount of blush just below each eye with a small makeup brush.

Use a light touch first. It is easier to add more color than to remove excess from plush yarn.

Choosing Your Final Look

The same base can be changed substantially just by switching colors and a few facial details. Blue and yellow with a red bow gives the supplied character its original cheerful look, while black with orange accents can turn the same shape into a Halloween-themed kitty. Red and green can give it a Christmas ornament feel.

The one-piece body also makes this pattern particularly convenient when you want several small cats with different color combinations: the main shaping stays the same while the personality comes from the palette and face details.
