Materials:

  • Yarn of your choice in lighter and darker color.
  • Crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Stuffing
  • Safety eyes

Abbreviations:

  • Rx= round x
  • sc- single crochet
  • dec- decrease
  • inc- increase
  • FO= fasten off
  • had- half double crochet
  • r= triple crochet
  • MR = magic ring
  • ch= chain
  • TW= turn work

Step By Step Pattern

Head and body:

  • A= darker color B= lighter color
  • R1: A= 6sc in Mr (6)
  • R2: A= 6inc (12)
  • R3: A= (sc, inc)x6 (18)
  • R4: A= sc around (18)
  • R5: A= (2sc, inc)x6 (24)
  • R6: A= sc around (24)
  • R7: A= (2 hdc in one st) x6, 18sc (30)
  • R8-R9: A= sc around (2 rounds) (30)
  • R10: B-12sc, A= 18sc (30)
  • R11: B= 6dec, A= 18sc (24)

insert safety eyes. I inserted them between round 5 and 6 around 4-5 sc apart

  • R12: B= 3dec, A= 9dec (12)

stuff

  • R13: A= sc around (12)
  • R14: A= (sc,inc)x6 (18)
  • R15: A= sc,inc, B= sc,inc, A= (sc,inc)x7 (27)
  • R16: A= 2sc, B= 6sc, A= 19sc (27)
  • R17: A= sc, B=8sc, A= 18sc (27)
  • R18: A= sc, B= dec, sc, dec, sc, half B half A=dec, A=(sc,dec)x6 (18)
  • R19: A-9dec (9)

Stuff

  • R20: A= 4dec, slst, Fo, sew shut

Legs x2:L

For legs use only an A-darker color

  • R1: 4sc in Mr (4)
  • R2: 4inc (8)
  • R3: (sc, inc)x4 (12)
  • R4: (2sc, inc)x4 (16)
  • R5: 2sc, tr, 2sc, tr, 2sc, tr, 7sc (16)
  • R6: (sc, dec)x4, 4sc (12)
  • R7: 6dec (6)
  • R8: sc around, Fo (6)

I put a little stuffing in the legs and sewed them so they appear flatter on the bottom.

Arms x2:

  • Use A= darker color
  • R1: sc4 in MR (4)
  • R2: sc around, Fo (4)

stuff

Horns x2:

  • Use B= lighter colour start in the second chain from hook
  • R1: ch3 (3)
  • R2: TW, dec, Fo (1) "Leave a long tail to sew
  • Use A= darker color

Ears x2

  • R1: ch 2 (in second ch from hook), 3sc (3)
  • R2: sc, inc, sc (4)
  • R3: sc around, Fo (4)
  • Leave a long tail to sew

Wings x2:

Crochet with a lighter color (B) I emroidered the "bones" with the darker color.

  • R1: ch 8 (8)
  • R2: TW, start in second chain from the hook. 7hdc, 1ch (8)
  • R3: TW, 4sc, 2ch (6)
  • R4: TW, start in second chain from the hook. 5hdc, ch (6)
  • R5: TW, 3sc, 2ch (5)
  • R6: TW, start in second chain from the hook. 4hde, Fo (4)
  • se to she top of the wing it will make it look more even.

Then add darker color with embroidery as you wish.

Assembly:

You can sew your dragon however you like! This is how I did it:

  • sew legs around R17 and R18
  • sew arms around R15-17 about 7sc apart
  • sew ears around R4-R5 about 7sc apart (on the back ofthe head)
  • sew horns around R2-R3 about 4sc apart
  • sew wings R14-R15 about 6 se apart
