Here is the step-by-step detailed guide for each component:

1. Crochet the Heart Cactus

The cactus is made in two halves, joined together at the center.

First Heart Half:

Row 1:

  • Create a magic ring.
  • Crochet 5 sc into the magic ring.

Row 2:

  • Work 2 sc (increase) in each stitch all around → 10 stitches total.

Row 3:

  • [1 sc, 1 inc] repeat 5 times → 15 stitches total.

Row 4:

  • Sc in each stitch around → 15 sc total.
  • Fasten off with a slip stitch, leaving a long tail.

Mark the first and last stitches for easy reference.

Second Heart Half:

  • Follow the same pattern as the first half up to Row 4, but DO NOT fasten off.
  • Prepare to join both halves in Row 5.

Joining the Two Halves:

  1. Insert your hook into the marked stitch of the first half, pull up a loop, and make a sc.
  2. Continue crocheting 15 sc around the first half.
  3. Switch to the second half and crochet 15 sc using its stitches.
    • Row 5 Total: 30 stitches (15 from each half).
  4. Continue Rows 6–11 as follows:
    • Row 6 & 7: Sc in each stitch around (30 stitches per row).

Start Decreasing (Row 8–11):

  • → 28 stitches total.

Sides of the Pot:

Row 4:

  • Ch 1. In back loops only, sc in each stitch around → 28 stitches total.

Row 5–9:

  • Ch 1. Sc in both loops all around → 28 stitches per row.

Edging:

Row 10:

  • For a decorative edge, crochet a slip stitch in the front loops only.

Row 11:

  • Work in reverse sc (crab stitch) in each slip stitch. Fasten off.
