Crochet Snail Pattern With Heart Spiral Shell

Crochet Snail Pattern Save

Materials:

  • 5.00mm Crochet hook
  • Super Bulky yarn in 2 colors
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors
  • Polyfill stuffing
  • Safety eyes (Size 14mm-18mm)

Abbreviations:

  • SC: Single crochet
  • R: Round
  • INC: Increase
  • DEC: Decrease
  • MR: Magic ring
  • FO: Fasten off
  • Picot stitch: CH 3, SL st into the back loop of first CH created

Step  By Step Pattern

Snail Shell:

  • Starting with the humps of the heart (make 2)
  • R1: SC 6 into the MR (6)
  • R2: INC in each stitch (12)
  • R3-4: SC around for 2 rounds (12)

Fasten off the first hump only and leave a tail for sewing hole closed in the middle, the next round is connecting the humps.

  • R5: While the hook is still in the second hump SC 12 into the first, SC 12 into the second (24)
  • R6: SC around (24)

Using the tail left over from the first hump sew closed the small hole left from connecting them.

  • R7: [SC 1, DEC]x8 (16)
  • R8: SC around (16)
  • R9: [SC 2, DEC]x4 (12)

Start stuffing the shell and continue as you go.

  • R10: DEC around (6)
  • Fasten off and sew the hole closed do not leave a tail.

Snail Body:

  • R1: SC 6 into the MR (6)
  • R2: INC in each stitch (12)
  • R3: [SC 1, INC]x6 (18)
  • R4: SC 2, INC, SC 1, Picot stitch, SC 1, INC, SC 2, INC, SC 1, Picot stitch, SC 1, INC, [SC 2, INC1x2 (24)
  • R5-8: SC around for 4 rounds (24)
  • R9: [SC 2, DEC]x6 (18)
  • R10: [SC 1, DEC]x6 (12)

Place eyes between rounds 6 and 7 about 4-5 stitches apart, and stuff the head only.

  • R11-27: SC around for 16 rounds (12)
  • R28: DEC around (6)

Fasten off, sew the hole closed, and leave a long tail for sewing on the shell.

Sew on the heart shell between rounds 9 and 27
