What skill level is needed for the no-sew pocket hamster pattern?

The pattern is suitable for beginners with basic crochet knowledge, as it doesn't require sewing.

Materials:

  • Yarn
  • COLOUR A top-of-head
  • COLOUR B Paws and body
  • PINK - Nose
  • DK Cotton to match COLOUR B-I Eyebrows

Other:

  • Crochet hook - 4mm
  • Darning needle
  • Toy stuffing
  • Safety eyes - 10mm
  • Stitch markers (if wanted/needed)
  • Scissors

Stitches used:

  • mr - Magic ring
  • sc - Single crochet
  • BOB - Bobble stitch (4 double crochets)
  • inc - 2 single crochet in one stitch
  • dec - Decrease

Step By Step Pattern

Pocket Hamster Amigurumi

  • R1: 8sc Into A Mr (8)
  • R2: Inc * 8 (16)
  • R3: (Sc, Inc)*2, Bob, Inc, (Sc, Inc) * 2, Bob, Inc, (Sc, Inc) * 2 (24)
  • R4-5: Sc Around - 2 Rounds (24) On The Last Stitch Of R5 Change To Colour B For The Body.
  • R6: 9sc, Bob, 4sc, Bob, 9sc (24)
  • R7: Sc Around (24)

Insert Safety Eyes Between R4-5, 3 Visible Stitches Apart.

  • R8: 8sc, Bob, 6sc, Bob, 8sc (24)
  • R9: (Sc, Dec) * 8 (16)

Begin To Stuff The Hamster.

  • R10: Dec * 8 (8)

No - Sew Hamster Pattern:

  • F/o and leave a long tail. Weave your tail in the FLO of the remaining 8st and pull tight to close. Weave in the end.
  • Using a strand of pink yarn, embroider a nose between r4-5, across 1 stitch. I did three layers of embroidery for a chunky little nose.
  • Using a strand of COLOUR A, make an indent for your eyes if desired.
  • Using a strand of brown cotton yarn, embroider little eyebrows above your eyes.
