Scheepjes Softfun Yarn

  • Fibre content: 60% cotton, 40% acrylic
  • Yarn weight: DK
  • Length: 140 meter / 153 yards
  • Ball weight: 50 grams / 1.76 ounces

Abbreviations:

  • CH: chain
  • SC: single crochet
  • INC: increase
  • DEC: decrease
  • BLO: back loop only
  • FLO: front loop only
  • DC: double crochet
  • HDC: half double crochet
  • 5DCTOG: a group of stitches worked into one single stitch
  • (...) x: Repeat instructions ...x times

Step By Step Pattern

Head:

With brown yarn. Crochet in a spiral on both sides of the chain. We will crochet from bottom to top.

  • Round 1: 11 ch, from the second chain from the hook: 9 sc, then 3 sc in the last stitch, turn and continue working on the opposite side of the chain: 8 sc, then 2 sc in the last stitch {22}
  • Round 2: 1 inc, 8 sc, 3 inc, 8 sc, 2 inc {28}
  • Round 3: 1 sc, 1 inc, 8 sc, (1 sc, 1 inc) x 3, 8 sc, (1 sc, 1 inc) x 2 {34}
  • Round 4: 1 sc, 1 inc, 10 sc, 1 inc, (1 sc, 1 inc) x 3, 12 sc, 1 inc, 2 sc {40}
  • Rounds 5-9: sc around {40}
  • Round 10: (8 sc, 1 dec) x 4 {36}
  • Rounds 11-12: sc around {36}
  • Round 13: (4 sc, 1 dec) x 6 {30}
  • Round 14: sc around {30}
  • Round 15: (3 sc, 1 dec) x 6 {24}
  • Round 16: (2 sc, 1 dec) x 6 {18}
  • Round 17: (1 sc, 1 dec) x 6 {12}
  • Round 18: 6 dec {6}

Stuff firmly. Fasten off and hide the ends.

Body:

With brown.

  • Round 1: 8 sc in magic ring {8}
  • Rounds 2-3: sc around {8}
  • Fasten off. Make the 2nd leg using the same pattern.
  • Round 4: With the 2nd leg on your hook 4 ch and join the 1st leg with a slip stitch. Now sc around the 1 st leg (8 sc) and work 1 sc in each stitch along the chain. Then 8 sc around the second leg and 4 sc along the chain again {24}
  • Round 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) x 6 {30}
  • Rounds 6-9: sc around {30}

Change to lavender color.

  • Round 10: sc around {30}
  • Round 11: sc around in BLO {30}
  • Round 12: (3 sc, 1 dec) x 6 {24}
  • Rounds 13-14: sc around {24}
  • Round 15: (2 sc, 1 dec) x 6 {18}

Change back to brown color.

  • Round 16: sc around {18}

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. We will now go on crocheting the dress. Join lavender yarn to the front loop of round 11 of the body. Work in FLO of this round.

  • Round 1: sc around in FLO {30}
  • Round 2: (4 sc, 1 inc) x 6 {36}
  • Round 3: (5dctog, 5 sc) x 6 {36}
  • Rounds 4-5: sc around {36}
  • Round 6: dc around {36}

Fasten off.

Arms:

With brown color.

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring {6}
  • Rounds 2-3: sc around {6}
  • Change to lavender.
  • Rounds 4-8: sc around {6}

Stuff slightly and fasten off.

Antlers:

With pink color.

  • Round 1: 5 sc in magic ring {5}
  • Rounds 2-3: sc around {5}

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Muzzle:

With white color.

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring {6}
  • Round 2: 6 inc {12}
  • Round 3: sc around {12}

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
With white color.

Ears:

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring {6}
  • Round 2: 1 sc, 1 inc, 2 hdc, 1 inc, 1 sc {8}

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Assembly & final touch:

  • Sew all parts together.
  • Stuff the muzzle slightly and sew it on between rounds 5-10 of the head.
  • With black yarn embroider the nose, eyes and mouth.
