Step-by-Step Crochet Instructions

Base of the Bag

  1. Foundation: Chain 32 air loops.
  2. Row 1: Work 30 double crochets starting from the second chain from the hook.
  3. Row 2: Chain 4, skip one loop. Double crochet (dc) into the next loop, chain 1, skip the next loop. Repeat across until you create 15 "cells."
  4. Row 3: Chain 4, create 15 "cells" using the same pattern (dc, chain 1, skip one loop). At the edge, chain 1, skip one air loop, and end with a dc into the second air loop. Chain 4.

Sides of the Bag

  1. Row 4: Work 7 "cells" using the established pattern. Then, in one cell, make a dc, 1 dc, followed by 7 "cells."
  2. Row 5: Work 6 "cells," then in one cell, make 6 double crochets. For the next cell, make dc, dc and follow with 6 more "cells."
  3. Row 6: Work 5 "cells," add 7 double crochets into the cell below. Then in the next cell, make a dc in the arch and follow with 5 more "cells."
  4. Row 7: Work 4 "cells," add 11 double crochets in the next cell, then a dc in the arch, and follow with 4 more "cells."
  5. Row 8: Work 3 "cells," add 15 double crochets into the next cell, followed by dc and finish with 3 "cells."
  6. Row 9: Work 3 "cells," then add 19 double crochets into the next section, and chain 3 "cells."
  7. Row 10: Work 3 "cells," then create 8 double crochets. Chain 1 (air loop), skip one loop, and complete the row with 8 more double crochets and 3 "cells."
  8. Row 11: Add 4 "arches" (cells) and make 4 double crochets. Skipping one loop and working a double crochet in the next, repeat for 4 stitches, and finish with 4 cells.

  1. Rows 12-14 (Back Panel): For the bag’s back, crochet 12 rows of cells. For the final row (Row 14), crochet 30 double crochets.

Creating the Bag's Handles

  1. Chain 48 air loops.
  2. Work 46 double crochets along the chain to form the handle.
  3. For extra reinforcement, make sc (single crochet) stitches in each cell. Add 2 sc stitches in each arch for an increase at the corners.
